Seventh-day Adventist church leaders from Salima zone have been urged to focus on evangelizing the masses to expedite the second coming of Jesus.
The call was made by the Malawi Union Ministerial and Personal Ministries Director, Pastor Lonely Kayuni Phiri, on 13 April 2025 at Chipoka church in Salima.
One hundred leaders from four districts of Mtakataka, Chipoka, Salima East and Salima West attended the meeting. Among them were Personal Ministries leaders, Evangelism leaders, Lay Preachers and Church elders.
In his remarks, Pastor Phiri urged the leaders to be God's witnesses as is stated on Acts 5:32.
"To hasten the spreading of the gospel to the masses, there is need for face to face approach so that the people should know the gospel," pastor Kayuni said.
He added that the door to door type of evangelism has less budgets because it involves all Christians at the church.
"As Lay men, we need to use "ACT" criteria which means asking God in prayers for guidance, Claiming the strength to go and Thanking Him for His guidance. This helps to overcome fear which can hinder the Evangelism process," he added.
On people's daily needs, Pastor Kayuni Phiri advised the Laymen to provide the people with food, clean water and even medical help, if need be, as one way of making them know the love of God through us.
For good visitation results, pastor Phiri advised the leaders to be in a team of two people of same sex and also know who are being visited in terms of full names, education status and marital status so that there should be good conversation with them.
Finally the MUC Ministerial and Personal Ministries Director commissioned the leaders to go and spread the gospel as is recorded in Mathews 28: 19-20.
On his part the Hosting Pastor for Chipoka District, Pastor Maganizo Mzipisira thanked the Director for the successful lessons which he presented to the zone. He also thanked all the participants for attending the meeting which has been an eye opener in as far as effective evangelism is concerned.
